Tigress And Cubs: E63
[Unveiled 1867]
Sculpted: 1866
Sculptor: Auguste Cain 1821-1894 • France
Gift of Samuel F.B. Morse (1791-1872),
an American artist and inventor
and other residents

Located inside the Central Park Wildlife
Conservation Center
just beyond the Intelligence
Garden's entrance to the Leaping Frog
Cafe
is the statue, Tigress & Cubs.
A large tigress nurtures her cubs while c
lutching her prey, a peacock, in her fangs.
Originally, this sculpture was hardly ever
noticed due to its isolated location within
the Park.
In 1934, it was moved to the Zoo, where
today children and visitors alike admire its presence.
