The interest in great jazz is evident by the
crowds that flock to the Great Hill at the
north end of Central Park to hear
some of the top names in the field.
On one outstanding afternoon, a concert
featured the renowned Wynton Marsalis
and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
This small circular field in the northwest
quadrant of the Park is perfectly suited
to the smaller audiences, up to 3000 or
more who picnic on the grass while listening
to ensembles ranging from salsa to
contemporary jazz.
